Sheeraz-Begic for WBO title joins Catterall-Giyasov and Sanchez-Torrez on Giza card
The undercard for Oleksandr Usyk vs Rico Verhoeven on May 23 in Giza has been finalized with multiple title fights added. Hamzah Sheeraz faces Alem Begic for the vacant WBO super middleweight belt as the card expands across divisions.
The WBO super middleweight title is vacant and will be contested by Sheeraz and Begic.
Sheeraz (22-0-1) returns for the first time in 2026 after stopping Edgar Berlanga in five rounds last July. Begic (29-0-1) enters unbeaten, giving the fight clear ranking consequence at 168 pounds.
Jack Catterall (32-2-0) meets Shakhram Giyasov (17-0-0) for the WBA Regular welterweight title. Catterall comes off a win over Ekow Essuman, while Giyasov remains unbeaten and positioned for a move toward the full title picture.
At heavyweight, Frank Sanchez (25-1-0) faces Richard Torrez Jr. (14-0-0), with Sanchez defending his WBC Americas and WBO NABO belts. Torrez brings Olympic pedigree into a step-up fight that affects his position among contenders.
Mizuki Hiruta (10-0-0) defends her Ring and WBO titles against Mai Soliman (10-1-0). This marks Hiruta’s seventh defense of her WBO belt and her first appearance on a major international card.
Basem Mamdouh (10-2-0) faces Jamar Talley (6-0-0) at cruiserweight, placing a local name on the main stage. Additional bouts include Mahmoud Mobark against Michael Kalyalya and Omar Hikal versus Ali Sserunkuma, continuing the push for Egyptian fighters on the card.
The structure is clear. Multiple titles are on the line across divisions, unbeaten fighters are matched directly, and several bouts carry ranking movement tied to future title fights.
