The 39-year-old has not fought since last July, when she defeated Amanda Serrano in their trilogy bout at Madison Square Garden to retain her super lightweight titles. Now approaching 40, Taylor is preparing to bring one of the most accomplished careers in Irish sport to its conclusion.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Taylor reflected on the longevity of her run.

“It’s been a long, hard career,” Taylor said. “I’ve had 20 years at the top of the game basically. But I always said I would love to end my career here in Ireland, here in Dublin. The support and backing of people in this country has been absolutely second to none. It’s been phenomenal.

“They came on this journey with me every step of the way, the highs and lows of it, and I’m so grateful for that. And I’d love to give them a final night here in Dublin.”

Taylor’s professional résumé includes undisputed championships at lightweight and super lightweight, following her Olympic gold medal that first placed her at the forefront of the sport. She headlined Madison Square Garden, sold out arenas in London, and consistently faced elite opposition during her championship run.

Croke Park remains her preferred stage, despite earlier efforts to secure the venue falling short.

“I think it’s going to be in July/August, sometime. We’re still trying to work out all the details; who it’s going to be against, the date, the venue, everything has to be worked out and planned. Obviously, still pushing for that Croke Park fight. I’m not sure if it’s going to happen or not, but that would be a dream for me.

“I think it will be the icing on the cake for me to end my career in Croke Park, our biggest, most iconic venue. How special would that be? But if it doesn’t happen, regardless of where it is, it’s going to be an amazing celebration.

Wherever the venue lands, Taylor’s objective is clear. One final night in Dublin will close a career built on championship belts, sustained elite competition, and national backing that followed her from Olympic gold through two undisputed reigns.
