Resendiz (16-2, 11 KOs) defends the WBA super middleweight belt after taking it from Caleb Plant and following up with a stoppage win over Jarrett Hurd. He sets his feet, works behind compact combinations, and commits to body shots once he gets range.

“I’m very happy to be stepping into the ring with a great fighter like Jaime Munguia,” Resendiz said. “For me, this is a big challenge and a huge motivation.”

Munguia (45-2, 35 KOs) steps in looking to add another belt at 168 pounds. He brings pressure, throws in volume, and is at his best when he’s letting his hands go and working behind his jab. He returned with a decision win over Bruno Sarace after his loss to Canelo Alvarez.

“I’m very excited to be back, especially to fight for a world title against a fellow Mexican,” Munguia said.

The undercard stays with that theme. Oscar Duarte (30-2-1, 23 KOs) faces Angel Fierro (23-4-2, 18 KOs) at 140 pounds. Duarte keeps his workrate steady and sets up his right hand behind the jab, while Fierro looks to push forward and trade.

Further down the card, Isaac Lucero (18-0, 14 KOs) meets Alan Sandoval (30-0-1, 19 KOs) at super welterweight. Lucero has been stopping opponents once he sets his feet and lets combinations go, while Sandoval steps in with experience and recent rounds behind him.

“I’m highly motivated by this tremendous opportunity and I have no intention of letting it slip away,” Sandoval said.

The card builds toward the cruiserweight main event, where Benavidez looks to carry his pressure and combination punching up in weight against Ramirez, who keeps his shots measured and holds his position at range.
